The motto of ths year’s EUROPARC Federation Conference serves perfectly the field of volunteer management in protected areas: „(Re)Connecting Society with Biodiversity. (Re)Connecting people with nature, (re)connecting nature with nature, (re)connecting business with biodiversity, (re)connecting policy with practice.“ Together with Ewoud L’Amiral, Naturpuunt (Belgian environmental NGO, which coordinates 2.500 volunteers who do professional volunteer management), we will discuss how to meet the volunteers‘ motives and expectations best, why volunteering delivers lifelong learning and products of our project like the „Guidelines for professional volunteer management in European parks“.
